Stop Solving Yesterday's Problems
The Lie
The answer is to work harder.
When results stall, most people don't question the problem.
They question themselves.
So they work longer. Push harder. Optimize more. Add more resources. Build a better process.
The assumption is simple:
If the effort is good, more effort must be better.
The Truth
Yesterday's solution can become today's distraction.
Markets change.
Technology changes.
Customers change.
Competitors change.
The problem that deserved your full attention a year ago may no longer deserve it today.
That doesn't make the work wrong.
It makes it obsolete.
Some organizations spend years perfecting products nobody wants.
Some leaders spend careers solving problems their customers stopped caring about.
Some people become world-class at work the world no longer values.
Excellence is wasted on the wrong problem.
One of the most dangerous questions in business is:
"How do we do this better?"
The better question is:
"Is this still the problem worth solving?"
The Move
Identify one problem you've become exceptionally good at solving.
Now ask yourself one uncomfortable question:
"If I were starting today, would I choose to solve this problem?"
If the answer is no...
Stop mastering yesterday.
Start solving tomorrow.
